‘Asocial Giraffe’ Needs You to Avoid Being Noticed

A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe is a point and click puzzle adventure game about a tall-necked giraffe that wants to stay unseen.

I got the chance to play a demo of A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe at AdventureX where it quickly became my favorite game of the show. Spending the week as this animal was just a very silly, very fun concept.

Playing as such a large, noticeable creature in a world full of humans that want to talk to you and see you is such an interesting concept. It is explored through a variety of levels, each of which are bite-sized puzzles where you often need to solve an issue without being seen or needing anyone else’s help. One of the first ones has a lady who got off the train without her purse and dog. Instead of just giving it to her or telling her, you need to lead the dog to the purse and then have the dog bark at the lady to get her attention without you even being seen.

Trying to figure out the best way to solve a puzzle without attracting attention or by distracting the other people around you is such a delightful idea. I am not asocial, so I would have spoken to someone, but if you do catch anyone’s attention, they start talking. Often, these speech bubbles just fill up with words, despite you not replying, until your head turns red and you explode, losing the round.

A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe is such a relatable, fun experience with a lot of silly moments, interesting puzzles, and goofy characters. I really loved how all of the people I did interact with spoke to me, blabbering on like they’ve never spoken in their lives, while I just stood there getting more anxious.

A Week in the Life of Asocial Giraffe is currently in development, but in the meantime, you can download a demo or add it to your Wishlist on Steam.
