Ultrahuman's next-generation smart ring could stay on your finger for over two weeks with a recharge. The smart ring maker unveiled the Ultrahuman Ring Pro on Friday, and the newest smart ring offers significant upgrades over the Ultrahuman Ring Air, which debuted in 2023.

These improvements include a new Qi-enabled Pro Charging Case that stores up to one year of ring data and delivers 45 days of battery life. It comes with Find My capabilities for easily locating the lost ring and viewable feedback with LED indicators and haptics.

On the ring itself, Ultrahuman upgraded its smart ring to store up to 250 days of data. It also improved the ring's memory and data processing, alongside redesigned heart-rate sensing for better signal quality, meaning the ring will more consistently measure data while you're sleeping and recovering, with fewer glitches.

Turbo Mode offers up to 12 days of uninterrupted battery life, while Chill Mode gets the smart ring closer to 15 days of nonstop use.

Recently, smart rings have gotten some bad press for getting stuck on people's fingers, requiring surgical removal. Last year, a Galaxy Ring user went viral after he required medical intervention when the ring's defective battery caused it to swell around his hand.

These swelling incidents are not common, but the Ring Pro offers a solution to this smart ring problem -- in the rare event it does happen. Ultrahuman's new ProRelease Technology featured to the Ring Pro makes it easier to cut the stuck ring apart. This has historically been difficult due to the technology's lithium batteries, which could explode if improperly cut.

In tandem with the Ring Pro launch, Ultrahuman also unveiled its own health companion chatbot, called Jade. The AI seems to review a user's data, offer actionable insights, and go deeper into personalized, data-driven recommendations.

The Ring Pro is available in Bionic Gold, Space Silver, Aster Black, and Raw Titanium for sizes five through 14. The ring sells for $479 and will ship next month. Ultrahuman is running a trade-in deal that gives participating customers up to $115 off the ring when they trade in their old Ultrahuman smart ring or a smart ring from another brand.

Also: Two subscription-free smart rings were just banned in the US - here's what comes next

Because Ultrahuman lost a patent dispute with Oura, it currently can't sell its Ring Pro in the US. However, that could change soon.

"Ring PRO is not available in the United States at launch. This is an exciting market for us where we have a huge community of passionate customers in the Ultrahuman ecosystem with Blood Vision, Home, and M1. We are working through the necessary steps to bring Ring PRO to our US customers and hope to share good news soon," an Ultrahuman spokesperson wrote in an email to ZDNET.
